- 2 sticks butter
- 3 c. sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 c. sifted cake flour
- 1 c. milk (room temperature)
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. shortening
Directions

1Cream butter, sugar and shortening.

2Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.

3Add flour and milk alternately having added the baking powder to the last addition of flour.

4Last add flavoring.

5Use electric mixer.

6Pour into a round tube pan which has been greased thoroughly.

7Flour lightly and place in a cold oven.

8Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

9Do not open door until time is up.

10Do not turn on oven until cake is in it.
