Ingredients
- 6 to 7 c. flour, divided
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 2 1/4 c. warm water
Directions

1Mix 3 1/2 cups of flour, the sugar, shortening and yeast in large bowl.

2Add warm water and beat together until well mixed. Stir in rest of flour 1 cup at a time until dough is easy to handle.

3Turn dough onto lightly floured surface.

4Knead until smooth.

5Cover and let rise until double.

6Punch down.

7Let rise again.

8Pour out on floured surface and divide in half.

9Flatten each half into approximately 18 x 9-inch.

10Fold sides crosswise into thirds.

11Pinch loaves to seal edge.

12Place in 9 x 5 x 3 pan. Brush slightly with melted margarine.

13Let rise.

14Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.
