  • 3 cans cut green beans
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/3 c. flour
  • 2 c. milk
  • 3/4 c. shredded sharp Cheese
  • 1/8 tsp. Tabasco sauce
  • 2 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. coarse ground pepper
  • 1 tsp. Accent
  • 1 (8 oz.) can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1 (5 oz.) can water chestnuts, drained and sliced
  • 1/3 c. sliced almonds

    Drain beans.

    Saute onion in butter until soft.

    Add flour and blend.
  4. 4
    Slowly add milk and cheese; cook until smooth and thick, stirring constantly.

    Add seasonings.

    Stir in cooked or canned beans, mushrooms and chestnuts.

    Sprinkle almonds over top and bake, uncovered, at 375° until bubbly.

    Makes 8 to 10 servings. This can be made the day before, but don't put almonds on until you put it into the oven.
