  • eggs
  • diced ham
  • salt to taste
  • cooking spray or pat of butter or margarine
  • blue food coloring
  • 1 stone (very clean)
  • 6 c. water
  • 2 cans bouillon
  • 2 lb. cans tomatoes
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 6 medium carrots, diced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 6 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 box frozen peas
  • 1 box cut corn
  • 1 box baby limas
  • 4 c. cooked, diced meat (beef or chicken)

    Read story of Stone Soup to children.

    Place stone in water (large stock pot is needed).

    Add bouillon, tomatoes, onion and carrots.

    Cook 10 minutes.

    Add potatoes and celery and meat. After 10 minutes, add frozen vegetables, one box at a time.

    Allow soup to boil gently between each additional box of frozen vegetables.

    Cook on medium heat for 20 minutes, stirring often. Cut heat and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

    Makes large pot of soup to share.
