Ingredients: 3 c. applesauce; 3/4 c. shortening; 3 eggs; 2 c. sugar; 3 1/2 c. flour; 2 tsp. baking soda; 4 tsp. cinnamon; 1 tsp. nutmeg; 1/2 tsp. cloves; 1 tsp. salt; 1 c. chopped nuts; 1 lb. raisins; 1 lb. orange gum candy

3/4 c. shortening
3 eggs
2 c. sugar
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
1 lb. raisins
1 lb. orange gum candy

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs until light.

Sift dry ingredients together.

Add to creamed mixture alternately with applesauce.

Add nuts and raisins and cut up gum candy slices. Bake 1 1/2 hours in 325° oven in greased, paper lined pans.

Fill pans not more than two-thirds full.
