Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. buttermilk
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. small gumdrops, halved
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Heat oven to 350 degrees.

2Grease bottom of loaf pan.

3Beat all ingredients except gumdrops and nuts in large bowl with mixer on low speed for 15 seconds.

4Beat on medium speed 30 seconds. Stir in gum drops and nuts. Pour into pan.

5Bake 60-65 minutes or until toothpick is inserted in center and comes out clean.

6Loosen sides of loaf pan and remove from pan to wire rack.

7Cool completely about two hours before slicing. For best results, wrap and refrigerate at least 8 hours before slicing.
