- 16 slices white sandwich bread
- 1/2 lb. shredded Cheddar cheese
- 3 c. cubed, cooked ham
- 6 large eggs
- 2 c. milk
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 stick butter, melted
Directions

1Trim off crusts and cut bread into 1 1/2-inch cubes.

2Place 1/2 bread cubes on bottom of lightly greased 7 x 11-inch baking dish.

3Cover with 1/2 cheese, then 1/2 ham.

4Repeat the 3 layers. Combine eggs, milk and salt.

5Beat well.

6Pour over mixture in baking dish.

7Drizzle melted butter over the top.

8Cover with foil and refrigerate 12 to 24 hours.

9Place in a pan (9 x 13-inch works) 3/4 full of water.

10Cover loosely with foil.

11Bake at 400° for 50 to 60 minutes.

12Uncover casserole last 15 minutes of baking time.

13Test for doneness as for custard.

14You can add broccoli and mushrooms if desired.
