  • 1 stick of butter half cup of all purpose flour more
  • 4 to 6 cups of whole milk salt and ground pepper

    In the pan that the ham was cooked in or use bacon grease if don't have cooked ham juice add the butter once melted add 1/2 cup of the flower and whisk to combined continue adding flower whisking constantly until a smooth past is achieved cook the roux on medium heat until you get a nice deep golen color about 3 minutes add the milk whisking the whole time to prevent lumps forming cook until thick and season to tast
