  • ground bison
  • 1-1/2 cups water
  • 3 cups onions, diced, cooked and divided King Sooper's 1 lb For $0.99 thru 02/09
  • 3/4 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 2-1/4 cups grainy mustard, divided
  • 6 Tbsp. fresh sage, finely chopped
  • 1-1/2 tsp. coarse ground black pepper
  • 1-1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 24 each Kraft Havarti Slices
  • 3 qt. romaine lettuce, shredded
  • 2 Tbsp. Kraft Creamy Caesar Dressing
  • 2 doz. whole wheat hamburger buns, toasted
  • 6 each beefsteak tomatoes, each cut into 4 slices King Sooper's 1 lb For $0.99 thru 02/09

Directions

    Mix meat, water, 1-1/2 cups (375 mL) of the onions (or 1/4 cup [60 mL] of the onions for trial recipe), bread crumbs, 3/4 cup (175 mL) of the mustard (or 2 Tbsp.

    [30 mL] of the mustard for trial recipe), sage, pepper and salt until well blended.

    Shape into 24 (4-oz./115-g) patties (or into 4 patties for trial recipe), each about 4 inches in diameter.

    Refrigerate 20 min.

    Combine remaining onions and mustard.

    Heat 2 tsp.

    (10 mL) oil in large skillet on medium heat.

    Add 4 patties; cook 5 min.

    on each side or until done (160 degrees F).

    Top each with 1 cheese slice.

    Repeat with remaining meat patties, oil and cheese.
