Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter oleo
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 6 chocolate toffee bars
  • 1/2 c. pecans

    Sift flour once; measure and add baking soda and salt.

    Sift into measuring bowl.

    Add butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar; cut with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.

    Remove 1/2 cup and set aside.

    Combine egg and buttermilk; add to dry ingredients and beat to blend.

    Pour into greased and lightly floured 13 x 9-inch pan; combine chopped bars, nuts and reserved crumbs and sprinkle over the top of batter.

    Bake at 350° for about 30 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.
