  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp. dried fines herbes, crushed
  • 1 1/4 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt

Directions

    Combine 1 1/2 cups of the flour, the yeast and fines herbes. Heat together the water, butter or margarine, sugar and salt just until warm (115° to 120°), stirring until butter almost melts. Add to yeast mixture.

    Beat at low speed of electric mixer for 1/2 minute, scraping bowl constantly.

    Beat 3 minutes at high speed. Stir in remaining flour.

    Cover; let rise until double.

    Stir down dough.

    Spread evenly in greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.

    Cover; let rise until double.

    Bake in a 375° oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Remove from pan; cool on wire rack.

    Makes 1 loaf.
