- 3 tablespoon vegetable shortening
- 1 1/2 cup flour, all-purpose
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 teaspoon basil sage or thyme, fresh, chopped or 1 tsp dried
Directions

1Cut shortening into flour, herb, baking powder and salt in medium bowl, using pastry blender or crisscrossing 2 knives, until mixture looks like fine crumbs.

2Stir in milk.

3Drop dough by 10 spoonfuls onto stew (do not drop directly into liquid).

4Cook uncovered 10 minutes.

5Cover and cook 10 minutes longer.

6Notes: If using self-rising flour, omit baking powder and salt.
