  • 3 c. self-rising flour
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1 tsp. thyme
  • 12 oz. beer (at room temperature)
  • 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 Tbsp. shortening
  • 3 Tbsp. cornmeal
  • 2 Tbsp. soft butter

Directions

    Preheat oven to 325°.

    Combine flour, sugar, cheese and herbs. Mix well.

    Stir in beer to make stiff batter.

    Grease loaf pan with shortening.

    Sprinkle bottom and sides with cornmeal.

    Turn batter into pan and bake at 325° for 65 minutes.

    Brush baked loaf with butter.
