Herman Dough Starter Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. hot water
  • 1 env. (1/4 ounce.) active dry yeast

Directions

    Let Herman incubate overnight in a loosely covered container in a hot place.

    The next day add in 1/2 c. sugar, 1 c. lowfat milk and 1 c. flour and stir with a wooden spoon.

    Then chill and stir at least once a day.

    On the fifth day feed him again.

    At the end of 10 days give a c. to a friend, keep a c. and feed it and use remaining two c. to make coffee cake, crumpets, cake, oatmeal cookies or possibly even blueberry pancakes.

    Or possibly you could experiment and make pizza dough.

    If you cannot use Herman on the 10th day, feed him a tsp.

    sugar, then use the next day.

    Whole wheat flour may be used also.
