- 3/4 c. shortening or margarine
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 2 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 3/4 tsp. ginger
- 3/4 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 1/2 c. nuts
Directions

1Mix margarine, add sugar, egg and molasses.

2Beat together well.

3Add flour (sift before measuring) and dry ingredients.

4Add raisins.

5Dough will be stiff, so knead with hands.

6Spread on ungreased pan, leaving 1-inch edge from edge of pan.

7Bake at 375°. Cool for 20 minutes before cutting.
