- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 1/2 c. butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 5 egg yolks
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. coconut
- 1 c. chopped hickory nuts
Directions

1Cream together Crisco, butter and sugar.

2Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating after each one.

3Add flour, sifted together with soda and salt.

4Add alternately with buttermilk and vanilla. Stir in coconut and nuts.

5Fold in egg whites, beaten until fluffy.

6Bake in 3 greased and floured 9-inch pans at 350° for 30 minutes.
