Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1/3 cups Butter
  • 3/4 cups Milk

Directions

  1. 1
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. 2
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. 3
Cut the butter into cubes. Then cut the butter into the dry ingredients, until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Gradually stir in milk until the dough pulls away from the side of the bowl. Do not over mix or knead.
  4. 4
Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Pat or roll dough out to 1 inch thick. Cut biscuits with a large cutter or juice glass dipped in flour. Brush off the excess flour, and place biscuits onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  5. 5
Bake for 13 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven on the top rack, or until edges begin to brown.
  6. 6
*Optional: You can store the dough covered, in the fridge overnight if you won't be using it right away. Also you can brush the tops of the cooked biscuits with melted butter while they're still fresh out of the oven hot!
