- 5 Tbsp. yellow Crisco shortening
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 c. hot milk (not boiling)
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1/2 c. ice water
- 4 c. flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Set aside.

3In a large bowl, put shortening, sugar and salt.

4Pour hot milk in and stir until shortening has melted. Add 1/2 cup ice water; stir well.

5Add yeast mixture; mix well. Stir in flour.

6Mix well. Dough will be soft.

7Pour dough out on floured pastry sheet and knead lightly, about 1 minute.

8Put dough in clean, well oiled bowl and set in a warm place until it doubles in bulk.

9Knead 5 or 6 times and turn out on floured sheet.

10Knead 5 or 6 times.

11Shape into 15 rolls. Place in baking dish.

12Rub top of rolls with cooking oil.

13Set in a warm place until it doubles in bulk again. Bake at 350° until golden brown on top. Brush with butter when taken out of oven.
