Ingredients

  • 7 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp. Crisco
  • 1 yeast cake
  • 2 c. or more lukewarm potato water

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in small amount of sugar and lukewarm water. Beat egg.

    Mix with balance of sugar and add to yeast.

    Pour yeast mixture, lard and potato water into flour and work in until you have a soft dough.

    Let rise for 1 1/2 hours.

    Place in refrigerator.

    Note: I mash my potatoes in the water and use potatoes and water.
