Hungarian Stuffed Cabbage Roll

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 c. uncooked rice (scant)
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 1/2 c. celery, chopped
  • 1/2 c. parsley
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 head cabbage

    Season ground beef with salt, pepper and beaten egg.

    Mix in uncooked rice.

    Brown butter; add onion, celery and parsley.

    Add sugar, lemon and tomato soup.

    You can use tomato juice.

    Dip cabbage head in boiling water to loosen leaves.

    Put one spoonful of meat mixture on leaf.

    Roll lightly.

    Cover with sauce.

    Simmer 1 1/2 hours.
