- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 well beaten egg
- 2 c. lukewarm water
- 4 to 6 c. flour
Directions

1Mix yeast, 1/2 cup water and 1 teaspoon sugar; let stand 1/2 hour.

2Mix shortening and remaining sugar together.

3Add salt and egg; mix well.

4Add 2 cups lukewarm water and yeast mixture. Stiffen with flour and knead.

5Let rise.

6Shape into rolls.

7Can be kept in refrigerator for 2 weeks.
