Ingredients

  • 3 c. milk
  • 3 tsp. butter
  • 1/2 c. cornmeal
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 4 eggs, well beaten
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. mace
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. sour cream

    Scald the milk.

    Add butter.

    Gradually beat in the corn meal. Stir until slightly thickened.

    Remove from stove.

    Add other ingredients, beating well.

    Pour into a well buttered casserole. Bake in a 275° to 300° oven for 2 hours.

    Serve warm or cold with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
