  • 1 quart milk, scalded
  • 13 cup molasses
  • 13 cup brown sugar
  • 12 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup milk

Directions

    Mix scalded milk and molasses.

    Mix sugar, corn meal, salt, cinnamon, and ginger, and add to the scalded milk and molasses mixture.

    Cook slowly, stirring constantly, about 5 minutes.

    Pour into a prepared baking dish and dot with butter.

    Bake 1 hour in a 300 degrees F oven.

    Remove from oven, stir in one cup of milk, and bake for 2 hours longer.
