- 3 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. water
- 5 1/2 c. self-rising flour (unsifted)
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. vegetable shortening
- 2 c. lukewarm buttermilk
- 1/4 c. sugar
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Set aside.

3Mix flour, sugar and soda.

4Cut in shortening.

5Add buttermilk and yeast and mix. Place desired amount of dough on floured surface.

6Pat out and cut with biscuit cutter or shape dough into rolls.

7Mixture can be stored in covered container in refrigerator for several days. Bake at 400° for 10 to 15 minutes.
