  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1/3 c. caraway seed (optional)
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. melted butter (oil or margarine may also be used)
  • milk (enough to moisten)
  • 1/4 c. white vinegar to make milk sour

    Grease muffin pans well with butter all the way to the top of each pan.

    Fill batter high; sprinkle tops with sugar.

    Bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 375°.

    Makes 12 large muffins.
