- 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 1/4 tsp. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Sift together the flour, salt and sugar in a bowl.

2Make a well in the center and stir in the buttermilk until soft, but not sticky.

3Turn out onto a floured board and form into a patty 6 to 8-inches in diameter.

4With a sharp knife, cut crisscross 1/2-inch deep.

5Bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes or until golden.

6Cool before slicing.

7Makes 1 loaf.
