Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 4 c. sifted plain flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 6 egg whites
  • 2 c. blackberry jam

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

    Beat in egg yolks, one at a time, mixing well.

    Stir in jam, add flour which has been sifted with spices, alternately with sour cream and ending with flour.

    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

    Bake in four 9-inch layers in 350° oven until center springs back when pressed with finger.

    (May also be baked in a tube pan.)

    Frost with Never Fail Frosting.
