- 1 c. sugar
- 1 stick or oleo or butter
- 1 egg
- 4 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. soda dissolved in buttermilk
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. blackberry jam with seeds or seedless
- 2 c. flour
Directions

1Combine sugar and oleo and beat well.

2Add egg, cinnamon, nutmeg and beat well. Gradually add flour and buttermilk with soda dissolved in buttermilk and beat.

3Then add jam and mix through batter well.

4Grease pan.

5Pour in mixture and bake at 350° for about 45 minutes.

6Remove from oven and cool for 10 minutes, then turn out on cake plate and finish cooling before icing.

7Makes 2 layers or 1 oblong cake.

8Ice with caramel icing.
