  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 c. jam (raspberry, blackberry or currant)
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

    Cream shortening and sugar.

    Add remaining ingredients; pour into a loaf pan lined with wax paper.

    Bake for 35 minutes in a moderately slow oven (325° to 350°).
