Ingredients

  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. Parkay margarine
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 c. apricot jam preserves (can use peach also)

Directions

    Sift together dry ingredients.

    Cut in shortening until pieces are size of peas.

    Add vanilla.

    Press about half of dough into 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch jelly roll pan.

    Spread with preserves.

    Roll remaining chilled dough and cut into strips and form lattice for top of cake.

    Press edges to bottom.

    Bake at 325° for 30 minutes. Cool.

    Cut.
