Ingredients
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. sweet milk
- 4 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 to 2 eggs
- 1 yeast cake
- flour for kneading
Directions

1Scald milk, sugar, salt and shortening.

2Add 1 cup of cold water, yeast cake, nutmeg and well beaten egg(s).

3Flour as needed for kneading.

4After dough has been properly kneaded, put in warm place to rise for about 45 minutes.

5Roll out and let rise again after cutting with cookie cutter.

6Fry as any other doughnut. Slit open.

7Fill with jelly.

8Close them up.

9Serve fresh.

10Makes about 2 dozen.
