Ingredients

  • pickling salt
  • 1 gal. cucumbers, sliced and put in gallon jar
  • alum water (2 Tbsp. alum to 1/2 gal. water)
  • 1 qt. white vinegar
  • 8 c. sugar
  • 1/2 box pickling spice (tie spice in a small white cloth)

Directions

    Boil 1/2 gallon water and 1 cup pickling salt. Pour over cucumbers in jug.

    Pack cucumbers down well in jug.

    Let set for 7 days.
