- 2 1/2 lb. cooking apples, pared, quartered, cored and thinly sliced (8 c.)
- 1/3 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
- 1/3 c. granulated sugar
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch or 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. butter
Directions

1Place apples in bowl and mix sugar and spices. Let stand until juice appears, about 10 minutes. Prepare pie crust and put in 9-inch pie plate. Put apples in plate and top with top crust. Dot with butter and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 425° for 40 minutes.
