   Mix boiling water and coffee.

   Let cool.

   Mix sugar with 3 cups water.

   Bring to a boil.

   Cook gently for 20 minutes.

   Cool.

   Pour the mixtures into a 1/2 gallon jug.

   Add 1 fifth inexpensive vodka and 1 whole vanilla bean, split lengthwise.

   Store in a dark place for 2 weeks.
