Ingredients

  • 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
  • 2 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1/2 lb. (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2/3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla (don't use artificial)
  • 2 c. chopped English walnuts or 1 c. black walnuts

    Melt chocolates and butter together very carefully to avoid scorching; let cool slightly.

    Beat eggs and sugar; stir in chocolate mixture, flour and vanilla.

    Spread batter in buttered 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Top with crushed walnuts.

    Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes until the brownies just start to shrink away from the pan.

    Let cool; cut into squares.
