- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. melted shortening
- 1/2 c. cool water
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. milk, scalded
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
Directions

1Mix sugar and shortening to milk; stir, then add cool water. Add yeast, which has stood in warm water for 5 minutes.

2Add egg and flour; beat.

3Let rise until double in size.

4Knead down and then make Kolaches.

5Let rise a few minutes before adding fruit. Bake at 375° for 15 minutes.

6Use any kind of fruit.

7When slightly cooled, drizzle with powdered sugar, mixed with a little milk or cream.
