  • 8 egg whites
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 1/2 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Beat egg whites until foamy and gradually add 1/2 cup sugar. Beat until soft peaks form.

    Cream 1 1/2 cups sugar and butter until fluffy.

    Add flour and milk alternately, beginning and ending with flour.

    Beat well after each.

    Fold in egg whites and vanilla.

    Pour into 4 greased and floured 8-inch round cake pans. Bake in preheated 350° oven for 20 to 25 minutes.

    Cool 10 minutes in pans.

    Then remove from pans and cool completely.
