  • 3/4 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 lb. bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 1/2 clove garlic or 1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 small can mushrooms
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. mixed Italian spices
  • 2 small cans tomato paste
  • 1 pkg. lasagna (about 6)
  • 1 carton Ricotta cheese
  • grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

    Brown ground beef, sausage and onion in skillet.

    Pour off excess fat.

    Add garlic, mushroom pieces, bay leaf, salt, pepper, spices and tomato paste.

    Rinse each tomato paste can with 3 tablespoons water; stir into meat mixture.

    Simmer 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Cook lasagna according to package directions.

    Alternate layers of lasagna, meat sauce, Ricotta, Mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses in greased oblong baking dish. Repeat layers.

    Bake in a 350° oven for 45 minutes.
