- 2 lb. ground beef
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp. whole basil
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes (2 c.)
- 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato sauce (1 1/3 c.)
- 10 oz. lasagne or wide noodles
- 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese, sliced very thin
- 3 c. fresh Ricotta or creamy cottage cheese
- 1/2 c. grated Parmesan or Romano cheese
- 2 Tbsp. parsley flakes
- 2 beaten eggs
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
Directions

1Brown meat slowly; spoon off excess fat.

2Add next 5 ingredients.

3Simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4Cook noodles in a large amount of boiling, salted water until tender; drain and rinse.

5Combine remaining ingredients, except Mozzarella cheese.

6Place half of the noodles in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.

7Spread with half of the Mozzarella cheese and half of the meat sauce.

8Repeat layers. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes.

9Or assemble early and refrigerate. Be sure to allow 15 minutes or so longer.

10Let stand 10 minutes before cutting in squares; filling will set slightly.
