  • 1 lb. Italian sausage (hamburger)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (1/4 tsp. garlic salt)
  • 1 Tbsp. basil
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
  • 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
  • 8 lasagne noodles
  • 3 c. Ricotta cheese (cottage cheese)
  • 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. parsley flakes
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 2 pkg. Mozzarella cheese slices

    Brown meat; spoon off fat.

    Add next 5 ingredients.

    Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Cook noodles according to package; drain.

    Combine rest of ingredients, except Mozzarella cheese.

    Set aside.

    Place half the noodles in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan; spread with half the cottage cheese mixture. Add 1 package Mozzarella cheese and then half the meat sauce. Repeat layers.

    Bake at 375° for 30 minutes.

    Can be made ahead and refrigerated.

    If so, allow 15 minutes longer in oven when baking.
