Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Italian sausage or hamburger
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove of garlic, crushed
  • 1 16 oz. can, whole tomatoes
  • 1 15 oz. can, tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. dried parsley flakes
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. dried basil leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 9 uncooked lasagne noodles
  • 1 16 oz. carton of ricotta or creamed cottage cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. dried parsley flakes
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dried oregano leaves
  • 2 cups shredded Mozzarella Cheese, about 8 oz.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan Cheese

    Cook meat, onion and garlic in skillet til brown.

    Drain.

    Add tomatoes with liquid, tomato sauce, parsley, sugar, basil, 1/2 tsp. salt, stirring occasionally.

    Lower heat.

    Simmer uncovered til mixture thickens, about 1 hour.

    Cook noodles.

    Save 1/2 cup of sauce mixture.

    Mix Ricotta Cheese, 1/4 cup of Parmesan Cheese, 1 Tbsp. parsley, 1 1/2 tsp. salt and the oregano.

    Layer 1/3 each of the noodles, remaining sauce mix, Mozzarella Cheese and Ricotta Cheese mix in ungreased 9 X 13 X 2 pan.

    Repeat twice.

    Spoon reserved sauce mix on top, sprinkle with 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese. Cook uncovered at 350° for 45 minutes.

    Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
