  • 1 medium head lettuce, shredded
  • 1 (16 oz.) pkg. frozen peas
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 green pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 c. tomatoes, in small bits (optional)
  • 2 c. mayo (not Miracle Whip)
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 8 to 12 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese
  • bacon bits (optional)

Directions

    Mix mayo and sugar very well. In a glass 9 x 13 dish, layer veggies starting with lettuce, then peas, celery, onions and green pepper. Spread mayo dressing over veggies. The dressing should be somewhat warm; it is easier to spread. Add shredded cheese and tomatoes, if wanted. Top with bacon bits. Chill for at least 1 hour or so.
