Layer Salad

Ingredients

  • 1/2 head shredded lettuce
  • 1/4 c. finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1 can water chestnuts, peeled and sliced thin
  • 1 pkg. frozen peas
  • 1/2 pt. mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
  • 3 hard-boiled eggs
  • 1/2 lb. crispy bacon

Directions

    Layer in 9 x 12-inch (3 to 4 inches deep) pan:

    lettuce, celery, onion, water chestnuts and frozen peas.

    Spread mayonnaise over top like icing.

    Sprinkle 1 tablespoon sugar over mayonnaise, then sprinkle 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.

    Cover tightly.

    Refrigerate overnight.

    Just before serving, chop 3 hard-boiled eggs and sprinkle eggs and bacon over top.

    Salt and pepper to taste.
