Layered Tortilla Pie

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (2 1/4 oz.) can sliced ripe olives, drained
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 6 corn tortillas
  • 2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 c. water

Directions

    Brown meat, onion and garlic in butter.

    Drain.

    Add tomato sauce, olives, chili powder, salt and pepper.

    In round 2-quart casserole, alternate layers of tortillas, meat sauce and 1 1/2 cups cheese.

    Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup cheese over top.

    At this point, cover pie and refrigerate until ready to bake.

    Then, pour water at edge of casserole into bottom.

    Bake at 400° for 25 minutes.

    Remove cover and allow to stand 5 minutes.
