Lemon Bread

Ingredients

  • 5 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sugar
  • grated rind of 1 lemon
  • 2 eggs, unbeaten
  • 1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Cream the margarine. Add salt. Add sugar gradually. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Add grated lemon rind. Sift flour.

    Measure and sift together with baking powder. Add alternately to creamed mixture with 1/2 cup milk. Add chopped walnuts. Turn into well-greased bread pan and bake at 350° for 55 minutes. Take from oven.

    Place pan on rack and spoon the Lemon Topping over hot loaf.
