- 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups gin
- 3/4 cup elderflower liqueur, such as St. Germain
- 1 1/2 cups ice

2Remove 8 thin strips of zest from the lemon using a vegetable peeler and set aside.

3Thinly slice the lemon and place in a small pot with the sugar and 1/3 cup water.

4Bring to a boil and cook until the sugar dissolves.

5Let cool and strain the syrup.

7For each of 8 martini glasses, rub a strip of zest around the rim and then drop in the bottom of the glass for garnish.

8Combine the gin, elderflower liqueur, lemon syrup and ice in a measuring cup or pitcher and stir until very cold.

9Remove any unmelted ice or strain into the prepared glasses.

10Serve icy cold.

11Cook's Note: Use a neutral gin to allow the floral notes of the elderflower liqueur to shine through.
