- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. butter, softened
- 3 eggs
- 3 1/4 c. cake flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp. grated lemon peel
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
Directions

1Heat oven to 325°.

2Grease and flour a tube pan.

3Beat sugar and butter in a large bowl at medium speed.

4Add eggs one at a time.

5Mix flour and soda and add to sugar mixture alternately with milk.

6Beat until well blended.

7Stir in lemon peel and juice.

8Spread in pan and bake about 1 hour.

9Cool 20 minutes in pan then remove to wire rack.

10Cool completely.
