  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 5 eggs, separated
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon extract

Directions

    Mix together sugar, shortening, 5 egg yolks and the baking powder.

    Add milk and blend.

    Add 3 1/2 cups flour, a little at a time.

    Now, add 5 egg whites and the lemon extract.

    Pour into a 10-inch tube pan and bake at 350° for 1 hour.
