- 1 c. (1/2 lb.) butter or margarine, softened
- 2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp. grated lemon peel
- 3 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 c. regular all-purpose flour (unsifted)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 3 c. quick cooking, rolled oats
- 1 1/2 c. chopped dates
- 1 c. chopped walnuts
Directions

1Cream margarine and sugar together until smooth.

2Beat in eggs, lemon peel and lemon juice.

3In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, salt and soda.

4Stir into the margarine mixture.

5Then stir in oats, dates and nuts until combined.

6Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheets, about 2 inches apart.

7Bake in a 350° oven for about 18 minutes or until dry in center and edges are well browned.
