  • 1 c. milk, scalded and cooled
  • 1 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 5 Tbsp. sugar
  • 5 Tbsp. shortening
  • 3 pkg. dry yeast or 1 cake compressed yeast
  • 4 c. flour, added gradually
